Studying Full Time Abroad

So, I plan on studying at a 4 year university in Japan, for the duration of the time it will take me to get a degree. I am aware of the need for a student visa, but I'm trying to make sense of one thing: will I be able to get a job to help support myself once I get there? The wording of what I've found has been throwing me off for a while.
Also, any other advice anyone has about studying abroad is more than welcome.

You can get a part-time job, which will probably not suffice to support you entirely, but will help offset the costs.
