Can we do the cherry blossom viewing in the grounds around Hirosaki Castle between 29 April 2015 - 4 of May 2015 despite the renovation works of the castle?
Will the cherry trees in the park be illuminated in the evenings?

The cherry blossoms can be viewed despite the renovations, but it is too early to jusdge whether they will be in bloom between 29 April and 5 May.

Will the cherry trees in the park be illuminated in the evenings?

There will be illumination during the cherry blossom festival.

Based on the simulation made by Weathernews Japan, the cherry blossom is estimated to fully bloom (mankai) around 27 April. Then it is estimated to start falling around 30/4.

Again, as Uji mentioned, it is still early to predict. But you may use the simulator to plan your trip.

FYI, my family and I will be in Hirosaki at the 1st weekend of sakura festival in Hirosaki (25-26 Apr). We might miss the full bloom but that's OK. just hope for a good flower-viewing (hanami) nonetheless.
