Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Kippu 2015/3/13 00:28
I will be visiting Tateyama Kurobe Alpine at the end of April (likely 27th April 2015). There is not much information about the Kippu on the website.
Can I check where do I purchase this kippu and how much?
Can I use the kippu for travelling from Nagoya to Takayama, stay for 2 days at Takayama and continue my journey to Tateyama ?
Thank You.

Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Kippu is sold for Japanese citizen as well as foreign travellers. Since it's discount is not so impressive as compared to many passes only for foreigners.

I cannot find any information in English released from JR West or JR Central which sell this ticket.

JR West released update on 3/19/2015 (in Japanese) but JR Central have not released it this year.

No. Basically, this ticket is not "Pass" with which you can travel freely within the area but is a "ticket" with which you can travel some restricted route one way. If you will be travelling within 8 days and your route is Nagoya-Shinano Omachi-Alpine route-Toyama-Nagoya or Osaka-Toyama-Alpine route-Shinano Omachi-Nagoya-Osaka, it may be useful. Note that you can not stopover at Kyoto, Kanazawa etc. You can stop over at anywhere in the Alpine route and backtrack within the Alpine route. Honestly, its rule is very complicated so I cannot explain it shortly :). If you really want to use it, please write your itinerary in a day by day fashon from the arival at the airport to the departure. Without knowing your full itinerary, I cannot comment further whether this ticket will be useful or not.

At JR ticket offices around Nagoya and Western Japan. Prices and basics for use from Osaka, Kyoto and Nagoya are explained here:

Only with the "Hida Version" of the ticket that is sold in the Greater Nagoya area.

Uji,

Thank you for your correction. I have not noticed the "Hida version" of Tateyama Kurobe Alpine ticket.
