Thinking about Tohoku 2015/3/15 13:05
Hello! I am thinking about travelling to Tohoku region in Autumn. I would like to experience the foliage and also apple-picking or maybe just apple trees viewing. Where in Tohoku and When is the best time to view them? I appreciate any gem of information.
Thank you in advance!

October to November is best.

Most national parks are known for their autumn foliage.
Shirakami Sanchi being one of famous ones. Though, most parts of Tohoku is great and just travelling randomly would ensure you seeing some great views.

Where to go for autumn foliage in Tohoku depends on the time of visit. In average year the season can start as early as late Sept-early Oct up north in Hakkoda-san in Aomori Prefecture whereas it is around late Oct to early Nov in places like Naruko Onsen down south in Miyagi Prefecture or Ura-Bandai in Fukushima Prefecture.

As for visit to apple farms there are some in and around Hirosaki and Aomori area. Those listed below allow u-pick experience till Nov.
