Hiking in Shin-Hotaka in Late October 2015/3/16 19:18
My friend and I are planning to go hiking in Mount Hotaka or Mount Yari for three or four days in late October(Properly after 21/10).

How's the difficulties of these routes?

Is that still a good season for hiking in these two mountains?

Will there be snow on mountain in that period?
Do we need any snow hiking gear (like ice axe) if we go for this trip?

Also, will there still some hikers that we can follow in that period?

Thanks.

It snows in early October. You shouldn't climb Mount Yari and Mount Hotaka in late October.

You might consider Kiso-Komagatake, Kamikochi, Daisen, Kirishima Renzan and Yakushim.
