Best travel time Kurobe Alpine Route

We are planning to visit the Kurobe Alpine Route this spring, also to view the snow wall. What would be the best time for this? Obviously the snow will eventually melt away, but if it's still too cold right now it might not be that much fun either...

The earlier the better! And on a sunny day. It is never too cold if you bring appropriate clothing.
