Hello,
Can the majority of sightseeing spots in Biei be covered in a day on foot?

It is difficult to walk around all Major sights in one day. I was exploring Biei by bicycle more than 10 years ago. Starting from Hotel in Furano, I was around the Major sights of Biei in one day. I had a very enjoyable experience. It if you want to rent a cycle I think the right choice Please refer to the site that was placed below. http://www.biei-hokkaido.jp/enpamph/

You need to use the twinkle bus or rent a car. Walking is not possible. It is mostly farmland. I made a mistake and had to walk from one station to another. The area is huge!!!!!!!!

Thank you for the replies!
Ideally, I would think it's good to cycle; but the fact is that I would be travelling alone, and as a non-frequent cyclist, I don't know if I could manage on my own (road condition, navigation etc)..
I had considered Twinkle Bus tours, but I find the stopover time too short for some places.. Looks like I don't have a choice now..

In that case either rent a car, or rent a driver + car for a day.
You could try a cab, but not sure whether they would wait for you if you want to stroll about. Maybe if you just photograph as they drive past. Or if you know some local words.
If not, you would have to do it over 2 days. Remember Furano next door! For lavender you could go to Furano without stopping at Biei.

If the twinkle bus tour is not suitable you can hire a sightseeing taxi; they have several set courses for a flat fee. if you don't care for their set itineraries, you can also book by the hour and tell them exactly where you wish to go. http://www.biei.org/biei-hire/index.html

Hi I'm confused with Shikisai no Oka, Panorama Road Ehana, Miyama Pass and Kanno Farm. Other than Kanno Farm, are the rest just a stretch of road? Are they related or near to one another?
I read that Miyama Pass can be accessed using Lavender Bus, but another article said it's a 5-min walk fr JR Biei. Which is accurate+ Kanno Farm is 15mins on foot fr JR Bibaushi, right? Then where exactly are Panorama Road Ehana and Shikisai no Oka?

Shikisai no OkaThis is a farm with lots of flowers. Panorama Road EhanaI am not sure what "Ehana" refers to, byt "Panorama Road" is the confusing name for an entire area south of central Biei rather than a specific road. Miyama PassA pass along the main road connecting Furano with Biei. Kanno FarmAnother flower farm. They are all in the same general area, but the distances are too long for walking. The basics are explained here with a map: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e6828.html

Hi all,
I have drafted a 4D3N itinerary for Takikawa/Furano/Biei. Will be travelling at end July. I will buy the Furano/Biei Round Trip tickets, join 3 Twinkle Bus tours and take Lavender go Buses if necessary. Please give me some advice to improve. The following details are more for 2N Biei + 1N Furano, but I have the flexibility to stay 3N Biei (slight change required if so). Thank you.
Day1 Sapporo - Takikawa (JR) Takikawa - Himawari (bus) sightseeing Himawari no Sato Himawari - Fukagawa City Hospital (bus) Fukagawa - Biei (JR) lunch & check in Biei hotel sightseeing (Twinkle Bus Biei Hill) - Biei to Biei sightseeing (Twinkle Bus Takushinkan) - Biei to Biei
Day 2 Biei - Kamifurano (JR) sightseeing Hinode Park Kamifurano - Furano (JR) lunch + roaming around Furano station sightseeing (Twinkle Bus Biei Lavender) - Furano to Asahikawa dinner (unable to shift this to an earlier date because it requires purchase to be made 3 days in advance) Asahikawa to Biei (JR) *would have to miss first night of Heso Matsuri :'( *
Day 3 check out from Biei hotel & check into Furano hotel Biei - Furano Furano - Nakafurano sightseeing & lunch - Saika-no-Sato, Tomita Farm, Lavender East Nakafurano - Furano sightseeing Furano + Heso Festival
Day 4 maybe some shopping around Furano area if necessary. Furano - Sapporo (JR)
Thank you.
