Hello All, I am going to Japan next month and I'm super excited as this will be my first trip to Asia. I do have a question though about the haircut that I currently sporting. I have a Topknot with an Undercut - link below is an example photo. Normally people in the west would associate this haircut with Chonmage on Samurai or Asian Culture in general but when I got it, I didn't really think about it like that since in the West the haircut is popular in the Fashion Industry. Now my question is: if I wear this haircut in Japan would it cause an issue due to Japan's history with Chonmage or am I just overthinking things?Haircut Example Photo: http://hairstyleonpoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/top-knot2.jpgHope to hear from you guys soon!

No problem, it's not uncommon to see people in Japan with this style haircut.

@curryudon Not sure where you live, but it sure doesn't ring true for Japan. My co worker sports this hairstyle and he's Japanese. I've seen plenty here as well.

there are. however, persons, who have many opportunities to meet others in business, may not have such hair styles. as you know, a hair style, clothes, speaking manner, and so on, will determine your first impression.

The answer is, it's very common and considered stylish. Bankers and politicians may not wear it, but people in creative/artistic fields commonly wear it to make a good impression.

Awesome! I guess that I was just overthinking things. I'm glad that I won't cause any cultural faux pas while in Japan just cause of my choice of hairstyle.
I know some people might think it's weird but Japan is known for being a little bit "weird" so I'm looking forward to everything working out during my visit!
Thanks everyone for your opinion on this!
