Volunteering in Kyoto?

Ill be in Kyoto for 3 months from June.
I'm staying with a friend but he'll be at university weekdays.
Obviously there's a lot of sight seeing I can do, but I'd like to do some volunteering/ work experience. I'm a second year Graphic Design student so if anyone knows anywhere/anyone I can contact to ask about possible work experience please share!
