COE 2015/5/26 10:30
Hi Guys!

Just curious if somebody knows what the immigration offices are going to check/screen/confirm when you apply for a COE (work visa).
I got company sponsoring me and they applied for me on the 30th of March. So I am waiting for around 8 weeks right now. Another 4 weeks to go if everything goes well!
I know it is suppose to take between 1 to 3 months and I am not complaining or something just want to make sure I handed all the correct papers. Also if other people are also waiting for their COE right now share your experience if you want :)

I remember mine took like 4 weeks. Basically the criteria depends on which Job you applied for. I believe there is a guide on the Japan site immi-moj on specifics for each. If you have all the requirements sorted out and you are fully qualified on the criteria you really shouldn't worry about it. I heard in some specific times of the year the approval time varies because of the amount of people applying.

hi guys!

i read a reply somewhere in another thread here that she only took 2 weeks.

me, i am still about to send the documents. i am just waiting for my NBI clearance. i will send some supporting documents even it was not asked to secure and speed up the screening process.

as for the purpose of entry, I left it blank. i will let my employer decide.

just wondering if there are DHL and Air21 branches in Tokyo?

I plan to use either of the courier services so help me decide :)

thanks.

P.S
after i send my docs, I will also post here how long mine will take.

Need fast replies here...

Have you asked your country's department of foreign affairs to authenticate your documents before sending them in japan???

Here we call it red ribbon, they will attach the red ribbon to the certificates to certify that it is original.

Is it needed in japanese immigration? Thanks

Re: COE 2015/5/28 18:48
In Philppines there is a red ribbon and as much as i know Japanese immigration demand for red ribbon attested documents..i have a friend she get annulment in Philppines and she get marry again so immigration asked her for red ribbon attested documents........i don,t know in your case but mostly Japanese immigration need attested documents

Thank you for your reply. Anyway, i am obtaining that red ribbon even it is not required by my employer, just to be sure and the processing will take 2 weeks. 😓
Hope my employer is okay with that.

Re: COE 2015/5/29 23:28
Yeah. Really hoping for fast coe result, to compensate my long waiting for my diploma and red ribbon, though the diploma is the only one with red ribbon.
Do you think i still need to send my grades or transcript of records? Actually i dont feel good about it. I am not a good student.

Re: COE 2015/5/30 00:05
Personally I did not send my transcripts either. The original certificate of your degree is sufficient.

Thanks for telling. Will not also include my transcript :)

Re: COE 2015/6/3 20:11
First of all thank you for all the comments!
And congrats to Glory!

As for me I am still waiting for my CEO applied it 30th of March.
I guess they need to double check my company because its their first time employing someone from overseas.
Good news is that they received an email from the immigration where they said they needed more information about my job description and responsibilities. I guess that means that me as a person has passed the screening part? Or am I wrong?
Nothing much to do then wait :)

Re: COE 2015/6/4 00:48
Congrats glory!!!!

Have you authenticated your document to your country's department of foreign affairs before sending?

Me, i am still waiting for the authetication so i havent sent it yet to japan.

As for the question regarding to screening,

I think its still early to tell if you passed but on the bright side immigration wants to consider you because they are taking time in requesting more requirements.

Re: COE 2015/6/4 08:59
Dont know what you mean by authenticated documents by foreign affairs...
I am living in the Netherlands and my company in Japan applied for me directly at the immigration office in Japan. I just had to sent my company a filled in application form for work visa, school certificates and CV. My company told me that they had sent all the needed documents on the 30th of March. We are now kinda reaching the 3 months time (2 more weeks, atleast I suppose they mean with 3 months time = 90 days or 12 weeks).
So I really hope I hear something about it soon.

Do you really think its too early to say that I already past the screening? I mean I know the immigration office can be busy some periods + there was the Golden Week. But its already 2 months... And what do they really need to check me for? Dont have any criminal record, got my university certificates.
