Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route in one day? 2015/6/7 21:13
Can you travel the Alpine route easily in one day? From Omachi to Toyama (East to West) - that is, are the section connections continuous throughout the day?

Yes, it is doable, if the weather is good and all modes of transport runs. go to www.alpen-route.com to look at timetables and plan your route.

If you are travelling from Tokyo then it can be a bit tight for time.

However, if you are starting the day in Toyama then it's a very comfortable day unless you want to do a lot of walking up in the hills....

What would a day look like traveling from Takayama to the alpine route and back to Takayama in one day? Is that route possible?

Is it possible to do the route in one day from Kanazawa? This will be April 2016 so I can catch the Hokuriki Shinkansen to Toyama and back. Would I be best to retrace the alpine route back to Toyama Station?
When are open dates for the Alpine Route for each year posted?
