Hiking the Subashiri Trail, Nights in Gotemba

So I'm interested in hiking up Fuji on the Subashiri trail. If I book a hotel in Gotemba how many nights should I book after leaving Tokyo? I'm mainly interested in going up just to climb it. That said I am also curious about what I'd need to do in order to see sunrise/sunset. Thanks so much.

One night is enough. But you can do two nights one for pre-ascension and one for post-descent.
