I'd like to rent or buy a Yukata in Kyoto for the festival and attractions. I hear we can also buy used kimonos. Where is a good place to go?
Also will Kimonos be too hot to wear in this summer weather? Especially if we might want to walk around, like the Kiyomizu-dera Temple/Gion area.
Thanks in advance for the information.

Yukata is a summer clothing for good reason. That is, it is cooling to wear in summer.
The closest western clothing equivalent clothing would probably be a robe. Example are bath robes people don as they leave the shower. It is airy and loose. In short, it is cool.
