Finding Daisetsuzan Hiking Trails information 2015/7/19 14:48
Hi all,

I plan to hike from the Kurodake ski area to Sugatami station (Sounkyo Onsen to Asahidake Onsen) but it's very hard to find information about the trail online.

Is it possible to do it in 2 days? (Stay a night in the trail)

Are there many clear signages and directions along the trails?

Do I need to register or booking to do the hiking? Any sources of information online?

Thank you very much

I recommend to purchase the following map:
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/4398762035

A simplified one is here:

Is it possible to do it in 2 days?

Yes. Strong people can do it in a single day with an early start and the weather's cooperation.

(Stay a night in the trail)

Most overnight hikers overnight at the Kurodake Hut. Camping is not allowed.

Are there many clear signages and directions along the trails?

If my memory is correct, they are in Japanese only.

Do I need to register or booking to do the hiking?

Yes, at the trailhead (Kurodake 8th Station) there is a book to enter your name, contact information and hiking plan.
