I am visiting Japan 3/12-3/26 and will be staying in Tokyo for all those days. I will be getting JR pass so i was wondering if there was a festival of some sort anywhere from Osaka to Fukushima (as far as I will go) Im still researching online regarding festivals but information im getting is very limited. Any input will be appreciated.

At some temples and shrines in Kyoto, special night visits are held every year in spring and autumn when the gardens are illuminated. Usually in March, tourists will be able to visit those temples in Kyoto, where beautiful gardens will be lit up at night. In 2015, at least four temples such as Kodai-ji Temple, Entoku-in Temple, Shoren-in Temple and Kiyomizu-dera Temple offered special night visits from March 6. At other temples and shrines, special visits were held from March 20. Also in Kitano shrine, the Japanese-apricot/plum orchard was open in February to March. However, it depends on the climate, and the periods of the night visits would be changed in 2016. Perhaps Kyoto City tourist bureau will release the info next December.
