Definitely Akihabara and if you are a Gundam fan, don't miss Gundam cafe and Gundam Front Tokyo in Odaiba, although the food at Gundam cafe is so-so. If you're One Piece fan, you should go to One Piece Tower.

I haven't explore Akihabara much but I think Akihabara has more stuffs for guys than girls. Ikebukuro is also lively and Sunshine City has a mini amusement spot (J-World) with themed cafe. I found my shopping haven at Animate Ikebukuro.

For Tokyo sightseeing, I think it's quite standard. I'd rather prefer excursion to nearby areas, particularly Nikko and Hakone.

A few scattered ideas:
Evangelon World at FujiQ
Manga museum in Kyoto
Character street in Tokyo station (20-ish shops selling character stuff)
OnePiece at Skytree

Animate is an excellent place to visit and close to Sunshine city (and the Pokemon Mega Centre)

If you are a fan of Kamen Rider or old Japan, you can consider Kyoto Toei Movie Park. If I'm not mistaken, it's basically movie studios where you can find the sets like those in samurai movies. There are few shows. They are in Japanese but basic Japanese knowledge will suffice to enjoy the show. There are actors in samurai costumes who will be glad to take picture with you.

There is also a Kamen Rider museum and Toei Animation museum within the complex.

Thank u! Akihabara must go then. She is into this black basketball anime and prince of tennis which I don't watch.

Probably visit Nikki as well.

I wanna see the snow monkey taking bath at Niigata.

So wonder is it worth to get the JRail pass?

This might help you

The other cheaper option is this
http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361_06.html
You would have to buy single tickets to get to Nagano. The pass only allows travel to the station or two stations before Nagano. Covers to Nikko too. So you just have to pay that little extra. Since the pass covers a really small region, but sufficient for your purposes as compared to the first mentioned it is way cheaper

Thank you so much for highlighting the passes available. Seems that Kanto pass is really value for money. I guess I should change my plan to go other places like Fujigo lakes or Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine.

With kanto pass, what are the top 3 side trip that you all would recmommend?
