Toyama in December

Hi,
I am planning a trip to Nagoya-Takayama -Toyama-Kanazawa in dec & leaving Japan on 19 dec.
Read that the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route and Kurobe Railway are closed in Dec. Can I have a confirmation that this is correct.

Also keen in the Ushidake onsen ski resort which I read that is near toyama. But this resort is only open in end dec. Is there any ski resort that is open in early dec which is near toyama? Any other interesting snow activities in toyama in mid dec?

I tried to check the opening season from the website for some of the ski resorts but they are either outdated stating 2014 - mar 2015 dates or no mention of the opening dates. Is it too early to check now ?

Would anyone advise the nearest ski resort from Toyama JR station that is likely to open around 10 Dec ?
If ski resorts are closed during this period, are there any snow activities or snow Alps near Toyama that I can visit during this period.

Most of the time the opening dates don't change much from year-to-year, so you can guess the opening dates for 2015 from previous years' data. But otherwise, yes, closer to October the information should be updated.

For example, Tateyama Sanroku (http://www.tateyama36.co.jp/ski/index.html) opened Saturday Dec 13th last season. I would assume it opens around the same time, Saturday the 12th seems logical.

But its honestly pretty early, so you might be out of luck. If you don't mind traveling a ways and absolutely want to make sure you see snow, then I'd go for Karuizawa (http://www.princehotels.com/en/ski/karuizawa.html). They have one of the earliest seasons of Honshu, and although they usually use fake snow until into December, it's a good chance they'll definitely be open then.
