JR buses in Kyoto 2015/8/20 00:33
Hi,
I've bought a JR 7day pass and will be traveling from tokyo to osaka and kyoto. I know that traveling in kyoto one tends to use the city bus and/or subway, but aren't there also JR buses? I want to make the most use of the pass without having to buy a day pass. Is it possible? It seems like a lot of attractions aren't close to many of the JR stations.
Thanks.

I believe that you can use JR pass on all JR busses.

There are very limited JR buses running in Kyoto, and one of the few (if not the only one) that is useful to tourists is the bus to Takao. Other city buses are not covered.

Kyoto isn't a place where you can make good use of a JR Pass. Like you said, most attractions aren't near the JR stations (or any stations!), and as other posters have said there are no JR buses. You can use prepaid IC cards on the Kyoto city buses now, as of last December.

Make sure your Pass still pays off without counting travel within Kyoto.
