Itinerary question - Kyoto to Osaka

We will be in Kyoto and then have 5 nights before we leave from Osaka on Nov. 9. We are interested in going to Kanazawa and possibly Takayama or Koyosan and Kanazawa, but need to leave for the airport in time for a 6:20 PM flight back to the US on the 9th. We haven't been to Japan and are feeling overwhelmed by all the choices. We prefer not to spend one night in a place. Would appreciate any advice on how to schedule these last few days. Many thanks.

It's great to be overwhelmed by choices!! Japan is interesting wherever you go. Two nights in Kanazawa, back to Takayama or Shirakawago (either for two nights) should fill the gap nicely. Enjoy your first experience of Japan.
