JR Kansai Hiroshima Area Pass 2015/8/30 18:07
Hi everyone, I'll be staying in Kyoto and want to travel to Hiroshima for a day trip. It says Nozomi trains are included in this pass, but I'm confused bc it states Tokaido Shinkansen are not included between Kyoto and Shin-Osaka. Does that mean I can't use the direct Nozomi trains from Kyoto to Hiroshima using this pass?
Many thanks!

Yes, that's correct. You have to go to Shin-Osaka by limited express or local train, and take the Shinkansen from there.

You can take a Haruka Ltd Express or JR Special Rapid Service. The latter is the more economical. The JR Kansai Hiroshima Area Pass is a 5 day pass though and while Hiroshima makes a great day trip, there is a lot to see off the beaten path, and you could make several day trips if you like.
Okayama is not far and it is famous for its castle, plus Korakuen

Garden which is one of Japan's Top 3, and also the Handayama Garden is beautiful:

Hiroshima also has a number of good places. Miyajima is the most famous, and aside from Hiroshima City itself, Onomichi with its temple tour and Kosanji Temple is spectacular.

Just beyond Miyajima also lies Iwakuni with its historical bridge and castle on top of the mountain.

Kurashiki also makes a good destination, plus there's the Kibi Plain and Koyasan.
The half day hike up to Konpirasan in Kotohira, Kagawa
is stunning.

You'd need to pay a bit more to reach it outside the pass area.
Going to Takamatsu is also nice - it has one of Japan's finest gardens also, called Ritsurin.

Loads to see and enjoy.
