Yes, it is a nice day trip, only about 45 mins. from Tokyo. Which part of Tokyo are you leaving from?

From Tokyo, take the JR Tokaido line to OHFUNA. There you can buy a Kamkura-Enoshima Free Kippu (1-day ticket for unlimited riding on the Shonan Monorial, JR in the area and the Enoden (Enoshima Railway). Here is a trip that will take 1/2 day or more. Click SLIDESHOW, upper right. http://dickh.zenfolio.com/p410268722

I took the train to Kitakamakura station and walked south toward the city, stopping off at the various shrines and temples along the way. It was an awesome day out and I highly recommend it.

That's my luck Saru Bob. I used to lived 30 minutes from Kamakura and probably visited 8 or so times. Then I leave and someone mentions a place I now want to visit :-(
