Rearrange Takuhaibin during transport

Hi, I came up with a worry about sending takuhaibin to far distance. For instance from Tokyo to Kagoshima. If I because of typhoon or bad weather cannot go to Kagoshima, is there any way to rearrange the luggage if already sent? Or would I have to go all the way to Kagoshima to pick it up anyway?

If you see some typhoon on the weather forecast, I would be careful to plan your trip accordingly...
If you inform the takuhaibin company early enough (still in transit) with the tracking number, they should be able to bring it back, though you'd have to somehow identify yourself and possibly pay for the extra trouble.
If the luggage is already at the destination (for example c/o hotel), you'd need to contact the hotel to ask them to send it back to you (c/o your Tokyo hotel for example) and need to cover the return charge.
