Nagoya Airport to hotel 2015/10/4 23:21
We will travel with an elderly and small kid , and of course with baby car and two big luggages. We are afraid we have to walk stairs inside the Nagoya station with our luggage, and the hotel is 5 mins walk from the station. We will arrive at 7:00pm. Taxi is convenient but expensive. Any suggestion to us?

Re: From Centrair to hotel in Nagoya 2015/10/6 01:06
You can avoid staircases all the way from Arrival Lobby of Centrair to your hotel in Nagoya City if you have a short taxi ride from Meitetsu Nagoya Station.

Central Japan International Airport [NGO, Centrair], which is actually located outside Nagoya City, is usually not called by "Nagoya" in Japanese.

- Nagoya Railroad [Meitetsu]

You can
walk on a pathway from Arrival Lobby to Access Plaza,
pass through the ticket gate of the station,
take one train (#) to Meitetsu Nagoya Station,
go up to the concourse by elevator,
and pass through West Ticket Gate.
Then, one person among you picks up the small kid in his/her arms,
another folds up the baby stroller
and you can go up to the ground by escalator.
Then, you can catch a taxi at the nearby taxi stand.

the hotel is 5 mins walk from the station.

It may need 10 minutes or more for a first-time visitor carrying much luggage to walk.

Taxi is convenient but expensive.

Where is the hotel located?
Is there a subway station which is closer (than Nagoya Station) to the hotel?
If subway or bus is more convenient for you to get from Nagoya Station or Meitetsu Nagoya Station to the hotel, it may result in saving your cost; otherwise, taxi sounds to be the best public transportation.

A taxi fare in Japan is counted per car per ride; it depends on the distance and, in urban areas, also on the time while a taxi stops or runs very slowly.
A taxi in a typical size can carry up to four passengers.
When a taxi runs smoothly in Nagoya City during 05:00 - 22:00, a taxi fare is expected to be about 500 to 700 yen per car for the first 1.264 kilometer.
(A higher rate applies during 22:00 - 05:00.)

: When a passenger under 6 solely uses a space to be reserved (such as a reserved-only seat) in a train, a child-rate basic fare and a certain surcharge are required. Otherwise, baby passengers under 1 and up to two 1-to-5-year-old passengers accompanied by one 6-or-more-year-old passenger can travel free of railroad fees.
: All Limited Express and Semi Express trains departing from the station in Centrair make a stop at Meitetsu Nagoya Station. A one-way ride lasts approximately for 25 to 50 minutes.
: The one-way basic fare is 870 yen per adult (= 12-or-more-year-old) passenger or 440 yen per child passenger.
: When a passenger uses a reserved-only seat in a (Meitetsu) Limited Express train, 360 yen per passenger is required as a surcharge regardless of his/her age, and he/she should get issued a seat ticket which indicates the reservation.
: All seats in a (Meitetsu) Limited Express ƒÊSKY (pronounced like mew-sky) train are reserved-only seats.
: A (Meitetsu) Limited Express train with no nickname is composed of both cars of non-reserved seats and cars of reserved-only seats.
: All seats in a (Meitetsu) Semi Express train are non-reserved seats.
: According to the current timetable, any Semi Express train departing between 18:00 and 21:00 from the station in Centrair is to be overtaken by a Limited Express ƒÊSKY train departing about 15 minutes later. So, it sounds better to take the latterƒÊSKY train if you successfully reserve all the necessary seats.
