JR Miyajima ferry 2015/10/8 12:48
We are booked in hotel at Miyajimaguchi near Jetty. Planning to take Miyajima Sanpai-yuran: Boat Cruise. I was trying to find out JR Miyajima ferry time table in English. Inspite of lot of search was unable to do it. Can I get it?? (1)

2) We will be travelling from Kyoto to Hiroshima early morning. Plan one- is deposit luggage at station locker gofor Hiroshima sight seeing. Check in thehotel in evening. Take ferry go to Miyajima take boat cruise and come back.
After good rest at night next day go to Miyajima finish sight seeing and leave in late evening for Himeji.

Plan 2 is go to Miyajima in Morning finish everything next day check out deposit luggage at station and Hiroshima sight seeing and then to HImeji.
Pl advice.

Hi,

Timetable for the Miyajima ferry in Japanese is here:
http://www.jr-miyajimaferry.co.jp/time.html

Blue is the Miyajima-guchi departures, the other Miyajima departures. Left column is hours, right column is minutes. Even with no Japanese reading, you should be able to figure it out :)

I'm not sure what to say about your plans. Normally, checking out Hiroshima first and then heading to Miyajima-guchi to get to Miyajima is the most logical way to do things. Leaving your luggage at Hiroshima station does mean you will have to travel back to Hiroshima station from Miyajima and then back again. Depending on how early you are, you could head to Miyajima-guchi first, do pre-check-in at your hotel, leave the luggage there and go to Miyajima and do the boat trip first and check out Hiroshima later.

Basically the less backtracking you do, the better. You could see Miyajima in one day if you have an early start. The first place virtually everyone goes to see first is Itsukushima Shrine.

But you should absolutely not miss the Daishoin Temple as well. In many ways it is even more spectacular.

It is up to you if you want to go up to see the top of Mt. Misen or not. The view is excellent of the weather is good. But it is a fairly rugged trail up to the top and not for the very elderly or out-of-shape.

If you are spending a couple of days there though, you should also go see Iwakuni which is just a bit beyond Miyajima - the iconic Kintai Bridge and mountaintop castle are both well worth seeing.
