Finalizing Oct 23-29th, suggestions? 2015/10/10 11:52
Hello 6th or 7th time to Japan for me, first to Hokkaido!

F 23: arrive Sapporo Grand around 830-9pm,

Sa 24: breakfast at hotel, Gingko Avenue, Botanical Garden, lunch at Nijo Fish Market
~2pm Sapporo-Otaru pass: Tanaka Sake Brewery tour, 六花亭, canal, and a light sushi dinner, head back to sapporo around 6/7pm. Dinner at Tancho for kaiseki and nightview

Su 25: Breakfast at hotel, pick up rental car and drive to Jozankei for dam, footbridge, etc. Dinner at ryokan

M 26: Breakfast at hotel, drive to Hakodate: Miharashicho Kosetsuen, Bay Area wooden shopping area, night view cable car. Dinner at Hakodate Sanroku?

T 27: Breakfast at hotel, Morning Market at Hakodate Ekimae, drive to Onuma Park. Drive to Noboribetsu for halfboard at ryokan

W 28: Breakfast at ryokan, Noboribetsu Hell Valley, River Oyunuma Natural Footbath, nighttime on the boardwalks, half board at hotel

R 29: Wake around ~830/9, breakfast at hotel, drive to airport, drop off car, plane leaves 1pm

Can anybody recommend nice kaiseki in Sapporo that is cheaper than Tancho? Or should we instead go for lunch or do you think the night lights are better? The dinner is nearly 3x the cost of lunch...

Hakodate places to eat suggestions?

I would like to fit these in but can't find space, any suggestions? The Tanuki Koji Arcade, Yoichi Distillery, the chocolate factory… Is there a Hakoadte market similar to the Sapporo Tanuki Koji arcade?

I'm afraid we'll get a little bored in Noboribetsu (we live next to a volcano in Taipei… so been there done that sort.) are there places of interest nearby besides Toya?

Thank you!

From noboribetsu onsen there is a cable car to a bear zoo/park. (Side road off the main road towards the hell valley. Around the base of the slope uphill.)

You can go to Lake Kuttaro. It is a very circular lake and you can see fog in the morning.

There are walking trails north of the town through green forests.

Lake toya is good for sunrise and sunset. Noboribetsu onsen is in the middle of mountains and you won't get to see the sun rising and setting.
