Hi. I just wonder whether it is feasible for us to use Kansai Thru Pass to go Hikone Castle from Kobe? Thanks

No.
After KeihanIshiyama(south area of Lake Biwa) to Hikone not covered.

After KeihanIshiyama need very short walk until JR Ishiyama sta
then take JR regular Rapid or local train to Hikone sta.

And be prepared for a long walk from the train station to the castle, then a rather long walk up to the buildings.

Yes, indeed!
It's a real jewel for cherry blossoms. It's also one of the original castles - not a reconstruction or facade over a ferro-concrete building. There is a good preview of the castle at

I don't remember it being a huge walk, but it is a while ago since I visited. Great castle and gardens.

When you change the line toJR at each stations where the Kansai thru pass covers, it takes the follow additional cost.

If you change train
at Umeda = Osaka to Hikone 1940yen
at Takatsuki 10min. walk 1490yen
at Yamashina 970yen
at Ishiyama 840yen

It might one option that you would visit Mii-dera or Ishiyama-dera when you select the Ishiyama route.

@Dick H, Show off :) I visited in 2014 when the cherry blossoms were supposed to be out but that spring they were late so I missed them. I stayed in Hikone for a couple of days & will be going back.

Too bad Stan. My pictures were taken April 8, 2014. You must have been there around the 1st.
