About Gujohachiman and Nagaragawa train 2015/11/21 02:54
Hello everyone!
Next March ILll be in Nagoya and want to visit Gujohachiman.
In order to adjust my schedule I need please some information:
1.- Would be one day enough to visit and enjoy Gujohachiman? Can I see the whole place in one day?
According to my search, accommodations in Gujohachiman are few and expensive!
2.- I will take the Nagaragawa train from Minoota to Gujohachiman. Question: do I have to make a seat reservation in advance?
Can I make the reservation in Nagoya?
3.- How frecuent are Nagaragawa trains from Minoota to Gujo? and at what time does the last train leave Gujohachiman to Minoota?
ILd appreciate very much any information or advice you could give me!
Have a nice day!

If you are going to Gujohachiman by Nagaragawa train, I recommend to visit Seki city and Mino city on the way.
Seki is famous for Japanese traditional cutlery and Mino is a place where Mino Washi (Japanese handmade paper) is registered on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
Here are reference website for Seki and Mino:

One day in Gujo-Hachiman is enough for most people. There are a few caves that are difficult to reach without a car that could eat up time if you visited, but most people visit the historic area around the castle. It can easily be reached on foot, although there is also a bus that runs there (not sure how frequently).

Although Mino (and to a lesser extent Seki) are nice places, if you do decide to take the other user's suggestion of visiting one or both, I'd definitely do it AFTER visiting Gujo-Hachiman in order to make sure you have time to see the sites there and then if you're satisfied with what you've seen in Gujo-Hachiman and you have extra time, going to one of the other spots. The Nagaragawa Railway only runs one train per hour I believe, so that too will slow you down if you are trying to visit many places along the line.

Hi all of you again and thanks so much for all your kindly and helpful information/advices about Gujohachiman and Nagaragawa trains.
Now with your help I can adjust much better in advance my schedule!
Yes, ILll definitely visit Gujohachiman first and afterwards, in the way back to Nagoya, ILll stop at Mino. ILll see if I still have time to go to Seki!
But please just one more question: is there in Mino any- not too expensive- accommodation?
Accommodations in Gujohachiman are expensive!
Thanks again in advance for any Suggestion!
Have a nice weekend

I checked local website and found some reasonable accomodations as follows:

Ryokufu-sou : 5,400yen per person per night withiout meals(including tax and service charges) , contact at +81 575 33-1268
Mino Kanko Hotel: 7,800yen per person per night including two meals(including tax and service charges), contact at +81 575-33-0080

The above Ryokan/Hotel are located at convenient places in the town. Another budget guest house is located at a little far distance from the center district of the town.
For further details, you may check the website below although in Japanese.
