Seishun 18 Kippu 2015/11/22 16:34
hello fellow travelers,

How can i maximize my Seishun 18 Kippu with a trip from Osaka to Akigawa in rural Tokyo? I tried Hyperdia but there are portions that cannot use the Seishun because these are Rapid Trains and Express Trains. Are there local trains that can replace these areas?
When Hyperdia puts "transfer", does it mean physically transferring to another train despite absence of Arrival/Departure Tracks?
Please give me your guidance. thank you....

Rapid trains are covered by the Seishun 18 (basically, any train which has no "seat fee" is covered).

Transfer means changing trains. Certain trains have a fixed platform. Whether they do or don't Hyperdia states it.
If it can't be used, then it can't be used.

Osaka - Kyoto by Kyoto line
Kyoto - Maibara by Biwako line
Maibara - Hamamatsu by Tokaido-honsen(Shin-kaisoku)
Hamamatsu - Shizuoka by Tokaido honsen
Shizuoka - Atami by Tokaido honsen
Atami - Tokyo by Tokaido honsen(Kaisoku)
Tokyo - Hachiouji by Chuo line
Hachiouji - Haijima by Hachiko line
Haijima - Akigawa by Itsukaichi line

It takes 10 - 12 hrs.

All you need to do is untick every thing except ordinary train and JR in hyperdia. Here is an example.
