Question 1 - What type of train pass should i get for the above plan?A 7-day Japan Rail Pass. Question 2 - Are there any onsen place from Tokyo to Kyoto that faces the ocean that is worth staying for 1 night on our way to Kyoto?Yes. Around Atami and Ito there are many onsen facing the sea that would make for a nice addition to the itinerary. Unfortunately I have no specific recommendation. Question 3 - What are the recommended places to visit in Kyoto aside from Shrine/ temple?Depends on your interests. The city also have interesting museums, palaces, historic districts, shopping and more. Here is a list: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2158.htmlQuestion 4 - Any must try food and onsen in Kyoto?Lots of great food. I recommend to have a Kyoto style kaiseki course meal once: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3963.htmlAs for onsen, there are no really natural ones in Kyoto. Only ones that are bored artificially deep into the earth. I personally find Kurama Onsen to be the best of them: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3933.htmlQuestion 5 - Any recommended traditional accommodation in kyoto? If you can afford it, the Tawaraya Ryokan is as good as it gets: http://www.japanican.com/en/hotel/detail/6232046
