Attraction in Karuizawa

Dear all,

Is it worth a visit to Shiraito waterfall and Kamibaike pond around Dec 27-28 ? Would it be any snow at that period?

I have been to Shiraito Waterfall in winter, and I was rather underwhelmed. The surrounding area just does not look very nice without vegetation, in my opinion. There was no snow when I went.

As for Kumobaike, I have never been in winter, but I imagine it to provide a nice setting for a walk at any time of the year. It is also easier to access.

Would it be any snow at that period?

It cannot be predicted. Sometimes there is. Sometimes there isn't. Just to give you an idea, here is the snow height for Karuizawa for December 27 for the past five years:
2014: 13 cm
2013: 7 cm
2012: no snow (but it snowed 14 cm the next day)
2011: no snow
2010: no snow (but it snowed 2 cm the next day)

Looking at what Uji posted where there was snow the following day after the 27, the 28 is your possibility.
