Where to visit in July?

Hi. I am aware that July is rainy and summer season, which is probably not the best way to go to Japan. However, this seems to be the only time i can visit Japan this year. Any suggestions on where (i.e which region, city, what to do) I should go to? Tentative date would be around: 1 July - 15 July. Personally I love Japanese food culture and also definitely want to enhance my food culture experience in Japan again this time round. And I probably would love to go to Osaka again, esp Doutonbori (any similiar areas like Doutonbori which u recommend to visit during these period)? Do advise.
Thanks a lot

Then, I recommend you to visit the Kansai Region around Osaka. Osaka and Kyoto combined offer unlimited dining options of all types. I also recommend to make a side trip into the countryside in order to experience not just the large cities. Possible destinations are the Kumano Region, northen Kyoto Prefecture and Kinosaki Onsen, and many more: http://www.japan-guide.com/list/e1105.html

OMG Thanks so much for the replies! Thanks for the suggestion, too. I'll intend to spend 4 days in Kansai (Osaka, Kyoto and inclusive of the suburb area) and attend some of the festivals. (Will post the further details soon). My issue I have is will it get too hot in Kansai area during that period (1 July-15 July)? I heard it will be extra humid and scortching hot. I, myself, come from a tropical Asian country with avg 27-32 degree celcius temp. Not sure I can withstand the heat if it is that bad?
Do you think it is also a good idea to visit Mt Fuji on July? If yes, how do u think I should plan the trip? Like how manY days should I spend there? I am totally clueless abt Mt Fuji and the area. And reading the articles, somehow confuses me more.
I alsof heard it is best chance to visit Hokkaido in July.. but tbh reading hokkaido brochure.. it doesnt really interest me. :o. Should I try it?
Thanks. Please reply m ( _ _lm. Thx a lot
