Sagano bamboo forest? 2016/1/17 11:49

Taken from this article: http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/11/travel/sagano-bamboo-forest/index.html

How do I get to this bamboo forest (URLs above)? It's labeled as Sagano forest but I could not find any information on it. All I found were information about the Arashiyama bamboo grove which, based on the photos, is not the same as this photo.

I want to visit both. From the Arashiyama bamboo grove, how do I get to this Sagano bamboo forest? Does someone have a map?

Thank you in advance

The particular bamboo forest is the small one in the Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple. See access information here:

Personally, I think the forest looks better on that photo than it is in reality.

It is a grove, rather than a forest, and more as part of a visit to the area than a destination in its own right. It is near Arashiyama as Uji says.

An alternative bamboo grove can be viewed at Kodaiji temple on the other side of the city - it might be more accessible depending on what else you are doing.
