Possible to climb Norikuradake on 15 May?

I will be passing through Hirayu on 15 May, and thought, if the weather looked clear, I'd pop up and climb Norikuradake.
In terms of ice/snow, what are the climbing/walking conditions likely to be on 15 May? Would the path through the snow be compacted by an early rush of climbers on the first day? Do I need to plan to take crampons/axe/rope/hardware?
Are the buses likely to be booked out in advance, or could I get a ticket at Hirayu on the day?

Thank You! That is very helpful!
If the bus from Hirayu goes to 2700m, and I can hire crampons at the terminus then it looks feasible.
If the bus stops lower than this, I probably won't have time.
