It depends on what you think is best, what movie you want to see (or at least what kind), and what part of Tokyo is convenient for you. Could you be more specific?

Well what are the best from any types of variety?
It could be for luxury, modern, best picture, nicest cinemas, anything really.
It could be anywhere in Tokyo, I'm only visiting, so I can travel to that area if need be, if it's worth going to.

Movie fans love more larger screen (over 20m wide) if be big title with hard actions or by 3D.

- HUMAX Narita as IMAX
- AEON Ebina as THX
- Toho Ebina

But a bit far from mid Tokyo by train.

Personally I don't like 4DX also MX4D by too much seat
performance.

I'm glad someone was able to post enough information about theater options.

Not really though (and it doesn't even say so on the link provided), which was the reason I asked the OP what (s)he calls "best". Most of my hard-core-movie-fan friends tend to avoid those luxurious cinema complexes and 3D. The so-called "mini theaters" are better known for choosing movies for their quality over popularity.

As for myself, if I don't have any spedific movies in mind, I check schedules for three accecible theaters to see what they are playing on "Lady's Day" discount, and choose the late-night show because there is less crowd. I'm not interested in their food service, because they're all crummy (except that some have nice cafes nearby). And I'm not comfortable with seats that are too big. I appreciate the drink holders though. For things like the latest Star Wars, it also depends on what mode you want to see it in.

Mini-theater cinema, and that is the national screening is different content.
The main mini theater

Other there is also such as Cine switch Ginza and Ebisu Garden Cinema and Iwanami Hall.
I like movies that are screened at the mini theater.
In particular, and Ebisu Garden Cinema work of Woody Allen are many screenings, like Shibuya Le Cinema France movie is many screenings.
Ebisu Garden Cinema and Le Cinema also seat is good.
Unfortunately, the case of a language other than English, English subtitles will not be displayed.
However, Japan movie seems to have carried out occasional screenings of English subtitles.

I'm truly sorry, and I don't mean to offend you at all, but we don't seem to be communicating well. Like I said, your options have been laid out and if you need any more details you need to be specific. For example, could you give us a title of a movie you'd like to see?

I prefer current films, to see in theaters. Does that help you?

If you're visiting Tokyo from overseas, be aware that Japan gets current Hollywood films months after their US/Europe/Oceania/etc. release. "Current" might not be current depending on where you are travelling from!

I think TOHO Cinemas Roppongi HIlls is the best.
TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku and Shinjuku Wald 9 are the second.

As you can find out from the link, most theaters in Tokyo are now playing "Steve Jobs""Carol""The Martian""Star Wars: The Force Awakens""Padington""The Bridge of Spies""The Walk""In the Heart of the Sea" among many other films in Japanese, French and other languages. So your options are almost limitless if you're okay with those mainstream types.

Wait. I can recommend one theater in Tokyo, although I'm not sure if it would suit your question.

K's Cinema in Shinjuku is now playing the bilingual movie "Behind 'THE COVE'". Bilingual, meaning that all Japanese speech is subtitled in English and all English speech is subtitled in Japanese at the same time.

The documentary movie is an answer to the Oscar-winner "The Cove". You cannot see it anywhere else in the world right now, as this is a sort of an independent movie, but it did premier at the Montreal Film Festival.

The fact that this movie was aimed for the English-speaking audience and that it's only playing at this theater makes it worth going to see. As for schedules, be sure to update yourself when it's time to go.

The movie is not bloody or harsh and it doesn't force you to agree to it, so I think it would be a good opportunity for you to take a look at the other side of the world through movies, while learning something about the country you're visiting.
