Kyoto is all booked - stay in Osaka? 2016/2/14 14:34
We have left it very late to book accommodation and as we are travelling in early April (cherry blossom season/ Easter holidays) ALL Kyoto accommodation is booked! Is it feasible to base ourselves in Osaka and do day trips to Kyoto? Or is there a better place to base ourselves to do this? Thanks :)

This might be helpful:

Start from Tip #1, and if that fails then move on down.

Cheers.

Try Agoda and then the rooms/apartments on AirBnB and Roomorama.

Failing that, Osaka is fine. It's a short commute.

Thank you for these tips! We are a family of four so have booked a very nice looking place in Osaka, close to train stations so we can visit Kyoto by day using our JR passes. The place we are staying cost about a third of the price of one of the very few remaining airbnb places in Kyoto! Thanks again :)

Yep, absolutely, Kyoto hostels were booked out one month ago.

I have always based myself in Osaka - the commute isn't bad. Plenty of trains.

Just because a website like Agoda claims rooms available, some of those rooms are not very nice or suitable (or cheap).

Happy that you found something suitable in Osaka.
