Up and Down Mt Fuji via different routes

As part of our trip to Mt Fuji, we would like to spend a couple of days in the Five Lake Region (Kawaguchiko is our favorite). For ascending we want to use Yoshida trail since it is easy to get to from Kawaguchiko and most huts are on this trail. But for the descent we want to use Subashiru trail for a different experience.
The problem is how to get from the 5th station at Subashiru back to Kawaguchiko? Is the only way to take a bus to Gotemba and then from Gotemba to Kawaguchiko?
