JR pass planning 2016/4/3 10:34
Hello everyone

We are travelling in September and need some understanding to optimise JR pass.

Arrival and departure from Haneda. Total 22 days.

Tokyo- day 1 to 5
Nikko - day 6 and 7
Kyoto- day 8 to 13
Nagasaki- day 14 to 16
Hiroshima - day 17 to 19
Tokyo - day 20-22
Departure - day 22 evening.

Should we get 21 day JR pass and 1 way to the airport by Limousine bus?

Is JR pass valid from/to the airport?

Will we get much use of JR pass in Tokyo? - want to do a day trip to Mt.Fuji.

Cash: Is it cash everywhere like temple/shrines entries or is Suica money accepted?

Vegetarian restaurants recommendations ( no fish ) would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

You could potentially use a 14 day pass for this trip.

Nikko has its own return pass with Nikko specific features.

So starting your 14 days on day 8 when travelling to Kyoto. Fou could potentially save yourself a lot of money in Tokyo. With the last day of the pass usable on the 21st day.

Use subway all day passes or similar for day 1-5 and day 22.

Traveling outside of Tokyo is good use of the JR pass. I tried to use it whenever in Tokyo, but I mostly used the subway. You can get a 1000 yen subway pass for a day, but who knows if you will use that much. sometimes more, sometimes less. The best thing to get is a mobile wifi..................Super incredible lifesaver. google maps does a great job getting you to the location and shows you the fare. MOBILE WIFI get it use it. Internet wherever you go.

@Hakata14 has it right. It will be better & cheaper to get a 14 day JR Pass and activate it on the day you go to Kyoto.
