Express Train from Hakodate to Onuma Park

My family and I plan to stay at Hakodate Grand Hotel and have a picnic at Onuma Park. I wonder the information I gathered is right or otherwise. Shall I take a tram ride at Horaicho Station to Hakodate-Ekimae Station and then walk to JR Hokadate Station. From there I shall take an Express Train to Onuma Station or Onuma Koen Station ? It is about 20km and the train fare is 540 Yen single trip. Right? Please advise. Thank you.
