10 Days Free and Easy in Hokkaido 2016/4/14 01:31
Hi, would appreciate if anyone can comment if this itinerary is suitable? I'm travelling in a group of 3 from 07 May 2016 to 17 May 2016, and we're not comfortable with driving so we'll most likely be taking train/bus about. Comment on any places that I should visit/change to the itinerary.

Some questions:
1. Is Hokkaido Rail Pass worth it for such an itinerary? If yes, which should I get? Or is it better to get individual trip passes or get the Kitaca Card?
2. I know Furano/Biei will not have much flowers to see during this period, so is it still good to visit it for other attractions?

I don't think I'm helping much. LOL! 2016/4/14 23:05
Use hyperdia to calculate your trip cost. Do note that taking Limited trains have additional cost to the seating, be it reserved or unreserved.

Hakodate has tram 1/2 day tram passes if you're going to explore the whole day. Your coverage can probably last a few hours if you're going by walking only. Journey to Matsumae castle takes a few hours by bus or you can take the train then the bus. This probably will take you about half the day.

Assuming taking the first train of the day to Noboribetsu then the bus up to onsen, you would probably have sufficient time to explore except the bear park. You may consider doing it the next day.

Sapporo and Otaru can be covered within a 2.5 days span. Asahikawa has an onsen town nearby if I'm not wrong. Depending on individual, some can spend the whole day at zoo. If still unable to have anything to do, eat ramen. LOL!

Most of your nights are in Sapporo due to flight out from Chitose airport, otherwise, I would recommend overnight in other towns. If your flight out is at Asahikawa, it would be great because you can take a trip down to Biei and Furano or the blue pond.
