How to go to Sobetsu, Lake Toya from Hakodate

I am staying at the Showa Shinzan Youth Hostel, Sobetsu end April. How do I go there from Hakodate.
In addition I would make day trips to Noboribetsu. How do I go about it and what are the time tables for train and bus services I need to follow in order not to miss the last transport services at night. Thank you.

Noticed that the last bus from Toyako Onsen to Youth Hostelmae is 1550 hrs which is very early. What is the walking distance and possible average walking time from Toyako Onsen to Youth Hostelmae? Are there taxi services available in the evening at Toyako Onsen?
If I miss the last bus from JR Toya station to Toyako Onsen are there taxi services from JR Toyako station direct to Youth Hostelmae and what are the charges ?

ckchoo, after taking the bus from JR Toya, don't exit at the Toyako Onsen bus terminal, and stay until the last stop (I forgot what it's called, but it's by the easternmost hotels in Toyako Onsen). From there it's a 30 min walk to Showa Shinzan Youth Hostel. Try to not rely on the local buses, they are extremely rare, but the timetables are listed at every stop, so use them when convenient.
