taking buses or driving in Fuji 5 lakes area

Plan to spend 4 days/3nites in a hotel at Lake Kawaguchiko. Thinking if I should drive or taking sightseeing buses to cover the whole 5 lakes area to Gotenba. I am wondering if waiting time for sightseeing buses will be too long and what kind of bus passes I should use to cover all these areas. Do I have enough time to travel to Hakone and return within a day? Please help and advise. Many thanks. (First time travelling to Japan)

4 ddays, 3 nights is plenty of time. buses wont be a problem.

Thank you for your advice. Actually, we will leave Fujikawaguchiko early morning on the 4th day. Just wonder if there is frequent buses travelling between Kawaguchiko or Gotenba to Hakone, so that we can plan one day trip to Hakone and return to hotel (in Kawaguchiko) in the evening time on the 2nd or 3rd day. Thank you again.
