Places to go in Tokyo

I'm going to be going to Tokyo for 4 weeks and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for fairly cheap things to do/day trips. Obviously I want to do all the touristy things but I will have a lot of free time and I'm travelling alone and wanted to get some more idea of things to do.

Hi Ammiee,
this what I wrote in a previous post:
Tokyo - go to Harajuku and next door is Yoyogi Koen (park). Harajuku has lots to see as in shops and just people. Yoyogi Koen is serene with temples - a real comparison to the hussle-bussle of Harajuku. Akihabara - if you are into electronics and anime/manga. Fish markets early in the morning - see gigantic tuna and things you didn't even know you could eat. Shibuya - lots of interesting shopping. Kamakura - on the edge of Tokyo near the sea - temples and a more traditional side of Japanese life. Go and see Sumo if it is on - tickets are not so cheap though. All in all, just explore and you'll get a bit of an idea of what Japan is like.
Have fun.

I'll be in Tokyo for 8 days and plan to go to all the major areas that you mentioned, Harajuku, Akihabara etc. Then I'm going to seoul and coming back to Tokyo for 3 weeks where i have more time to explore and mainly try practise my Japanese . I'm only planning to stay in Tokyo because I can't really afford to travel around to other places, and also because I'm travelling alone its easier for me to just stay in one place.
