Koyasan Hiking 2016/6/7 16:50
Hi there,

My wife and I will have an overnight temple stay in Koyasan on nov 15th of this year. We are both relatively fit and like to hike. We have ear marked the following day to do some hiking before returning to osaka that evening.

Looking on this website, we found the kohechi trail from mt koya to Hongu Taisha (green trail). Does anyone have experience of walking this trail and able to share some more details please?

i.e
* difficulty
* distance
* how scenic it is
* once arriving at Hongu Taisha - is there transport back to osaka and
* any other info you may feel relevant and of benefit.

Here are maps of the Kohechi Trail:

Adding up the distances of each section, from Koyasan to Hongu Taisha is 66.9 km. The trail does not appear to be very scenic. The onsen near Hongu Taisha is quite famous.
