Furano Biei Rail Ticket 2016/6/12 02:48
Hi there,

Can you help me to clear up something?
1) I plan to buy Furano Biei Rail Ticket departure from Sapporo station which cost 6500- valid within 4 days. With this ticket I can use for unlimited rides between asahikawa - biei- furano in these 4 days. While for journey (going and return) between Sapporo and Asahikawa (free ride section) can ride for one time only, am I understand correctly?

I refer this ticket from:
http://www2.jrhokkaido.co.jp/global/english/travel/index.html

I'm thinking to choose package D

2) I'd like to confirm if the earliest express train from Sapporo to New Chitose Airport is at 6.16am? I referred the JR Hokkaido time table from this link: http://www2.jrhokkaido.co.jp/global/english/ttable/04.pdf

3) Will the JR train depart from and reach the destination on time like what have stated in time table?

My flight is at 9.20am, so I'm not sure if I need to stay one more night in Sapporo or just overnight at airport.

Thank you very much :)!

For practical reasons, your understanding is basically correct, but your terminology is wrong. The "free ride section" refers to the area in which you can take trains as many times as you wish. It is not only between Asahikawa, Biei and Furano, but also includes the sections between Asahikawa and Takikawa and between Takikawa and Furano.

I'd like to confirm if the earliest express train from Sapporo to New Chitose Airport is at 6.16am? I referred the JR Hokkaido time table from this link: http://www2.jrhokkaido.co.jp/global/english/ttable/04.pdf

Again your understanding is correct, but the terminology is wrong. The name of the train is "rapid train" rather than "express train".

Most of the time. Japanese trains are generally highly reliable, especially in the early mornings when there are few people underway. But, of course, they are nit 100% reliable. In rare cases there can be delays due to weather, accidents or incidents.
