Highway from New Chitose to Furano

I will be going to Hokkaido and self drive holiday. Which highway should i use from Chitose to Furano without paying hefty toll fees? Need information on this.

But doesn't translated all.

国道/koku-dou means National road.
(maintained/management by Japan as country/国)
道道/dou-dou means Hokkaido road.
(maintained/management by Hokkaido as local organization)
This first 道 means short of 北海道/Hokkaido
second 道 means short of 道路/douro:(car) road.
Also Road signs(big direction boards blue color based) with Roman(alphabet) not so hardly like this.
