Hi all, I will travel alone to Hokkaido in Mid August and will use public transport. I'm interested in hiking beginner level and flowers. Total days at Hokkaido is 8 days and 7 nights: 1st day - Arrive Chitose airport, go Furano - overnight at Furano 2nd day - Spend a day at Furano/Biei - overnight at Furano 3rd day -Travel to Lake Toya for fireworks - overnight at Lake Toya 4th day - hiking at Toya 5th day - Travel to Sapporo (Should go directly to Otaru and overnight there?) 6th day - Sapporo 7th day - Sapporo Flight back from Chitose Airport
Please help with the question in the bracket in this itinerary. I also need advise should I buy the JR pass and which type is suitable.
Thank you very much.

You can either stay in Otaru for a night or return to Sapporo very late. I stayed in Otaru at one of the retro hotels and really enjoyed it.
The 5 day Hokkaido Pass would probably be best for you but the savings will be minimal.

Thanks for your reply! I couldn't find any info regarding the lake toya fireworks. Any idea where is the summer firework and the timing?
Thank you!

Just above the lake. A boat goes round the lake and shoots them up. After dusk. You can ask your hotel for the timings.
