Train trip from Haneda to matsumoto

Hi,
We plan to take train from Haneda to Matsumoto. When I checked Hyperdia, between Tachikawa to Matsumoto, the train service is Ltd Serv Azusa 9. For this train, do we need to reserve the seat? Or can we just buy ticket alone? Thanks.

Look at the options in the drop-down list in the "seat fee" column to see what seating options are available. Buf you don't have a rail pass, it doesn't make a difference: you have to buy a ticket in any case (although reserved seats are slightly more expensive).
