Evening Travel from Haneda Airport to Kyoto 2016/7/5 04:48
Hi Everyone!

We are in a bit of a pickle. We are flying into the Haneda Airport around 10:30PM on Monday night and want to travel to Kyoto after we arrive. We have purchased the JR Pass, which I believe we need to activate once we arrive, and need some help in planning which buses/monorails/trains to take. Any support would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you,
Jessica

Bullet trains must arrive at Tokyo Station or Shin-Osaka Station by around midnight. Since it takes roughly three hours to do that route, the last train to leave Tokyo to Osaka is 21:23. You won't be able to take a train to Kyoto the night you arrive. You'll have to spend the night in the Tokyo area and exchange the voucher for the JR Pass the next morning.

Another point is that you would have to exchange your JR Voucher for the pass. Office wouldn't be open.
My recommendation if you really need to get to Kyoto ASAP is to take a domestic flight... Or an overnight coach... Or to rent a car and self drive.

Arr 10:30PM(22:30) is too late.
You cannot catch Last Shinkansen(bullet train/dep fr Shinagawa 21:30) already started.
Also HND and Shinagawa both "exchange office" are already closed.

Book hotel or over night express way bus ASAP.
(Japan Rail Pass not valid for both)
(by taxi or Car rent is pretty expensive not for real)

Or change flight early one or To "KIX" if possible.
