Advice on Self Drive Touring Regions 2016/7/5 14:34
Hello,
From Sep 20th this year our group of 4, 2 adults plus 14 & 16yo girls, will be spending 20 days on our first visit to Japan.
We plan spend most of that in the usual tourist areas with a week in Tokyo, 4 days in Kyoto and 3 days in Hiroshima/Miyajima.

With over a fortnight committed to big cities and historical sites we're thinking of spending the remaining 4-5 days in a hire car touring a regional area.
Along with being able to have a more relaxed pace this would give us a chance to experience the less populated regions and appreciate the landscape and natural beauty of Japan (e.g. coasts, beaches, mountains & forests).
We'd also like to spend time in smaller towns esp agriculture based ones to get a feel for them.

From reviewing tourist information the Shikoku or Kyushu regions might be suitable but would appreciate feedback from those who really know Japan on others we should consider.

Thank you

Paul
