Hi, i will be doing research in Japan and i am taking my 8 month old son with me. I need your advice about grocery shopping. how are the prices in general in supermarkets if you compare with united states? Where is the closest supermarket to Riken campus? Thanks in advance

Prices are/should be comparable, if not a little cheaper. But depends on where in the USA you are from.

I'm from CA and I would say that groceries overall tend to be slightly more expensive in Japan, especially produce and dairy. Meat is about the same, while seafood and Japanese foods are cheaper. Eating out, on the other hand, can be relatively less expensive in Japan than in the US since tax and tip are included in the prices.
